Introducing Cali White
Psychotherapist, ancestral healer and Founder of The Witches House of Healing Arts, Cali helps women connect with their ancestral lineage, and with themselves.
Cali has “calm authority”. This is a desirable trait in my view. I realised in writing this piece that I seek out people with this quality, consciously or otherwise. There is something so very grounded in Cali. Yet, she operates at a vibration level rarely seen in day-to-day life, like a spirit passing frictionlessly through life rather than pushing uphill through treacle like many of us do. That said, she also understands graft, commitment, loyalty and dedication, which only adds to her attraction in my eyes. Perhaps these qualities led me to fall wholeheartedly into her care as we explored the ancestral break in my own history.
Those of you who know me well will know that I was born to a depressive mother, so ill, she was institutionalised before I was two years old. This ancestral break had, and continues to have, massive implications for me. It shaped me in many ways, and as Cali says of her mother, “She gave me the deepest wound and the greatest gift”. Cali’s own story of her birth mother resonated deeply with me.
As a trained psychotherapist, Cali could have easily stayed in her lane. Still, somewhere deeply held, she felt a calling to women of another time, specifically those “witches” who fell during “the burning times.” She also specialises in ancestral healing, and it was here that our paths connected.
I have the great fortune of being loved by a friend of Cali’s. Jo is my soul-sister and it was her idea that I go to one of Cali’s workshops to see if I could tap into my ancestral line as I had almost no memory of my mother and grandmother. It was at this workshop I learned about the burning times; 400 years of persectution of women in the community from midwives, healers, mystics and elders, burnt for their wisdom and sometimes just for revenge.
In addition to tapping into my ancestry, I learnt how these 400 years instilled mistrust between women. As you’ll hear in Cali’s own words, the conventional wisdom was that women never worked alone, so many were rooted out as witches to save the burning of the accused's own skin.
I was indeed curious about this historical period, but I had no expectation of what I would actually learn about myself during these sessions. Cali has literally altered the direction of my life, and she wasn’t even aware of it at the time, nor was I!
She is a fascinating woman, and I hope you take the time to listen to this conversation. Her voice and pace are beautiful and let the listener absorb her words. She is wise as she is wonderful, and I know you’re going to love this one.
