Introducing Alex Heath
This week I am speaking with Alex Heath. Alex is a clinical hypnotherapist specialising in perinatal trauma recovery, we talk about the power of story telling, motherhood and much more besides...
I first met Alex when I passed her door on the way to the park with my dog, as she was just leaving to walk her hounds. I love dogs, and as all dog lovers know, we love to chat about them whenever possible. As we both reflexively enquired about the age, breed and name of our respective pooches, we found ourselves both walking in the same direction, and so we just kept walking and talking - fast forward several years, and here we are, still talking. I know Alex, but in this episode, I learnt so much more than I expected, and as you’ll come to hear, we got much deeper than either of us had anticipated.
We explore themes of connection, generational trauma's impact, and the importance of storytelling in shaping identity. Alex shares personal anecdotes about influential figures in her life, including her grandfather, and reflects on the unconditional love she receives from her husband, Steve. The discussion highlights the transformative power of hypnotherapy and the journey of self-discovery. We also explore the themes of self-awareness, communication, and the complexities of parenthood with a particular focus on the challenges of motherhood, the importance of vulnerability in relationships, and how personal growth is influenced by the connections we make with others.
As I said, we go deep.
And it got me thinking about chemistry. Back on that impromptu dog walk, Alex and I hit it off immediately. Not after we had asked several questions and had the opportunity to size each other up, but instantly. Why is there an instant connection with some, where others leave us looking for the door, or in our case, the gate to the park? I’m sure some “oligists” would have deep research about feromones, energy chakra and unconscious bias, but I like to think it might have to do with a person’s openness to the opportunity of getting to know someone new.
There is something for everyone in this podcast, and that is perhaps the crux of Alex’s charm. She has so much to offer, not least her ability to see people clearly and her self-confidence in sharing intimate thoughts and opinions.
I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. And if you did, please rate, review, subscribe and share with a friend. I’m beginning my podcasting life, and I truly appreciate your support.
